I had been meaning to post about these baked chicken wings recipe for quite some time but couldn’t get some nice shots (photos) until recently. This recipe is truly a gem and has been making regular appearances in our house – Introducing the easiest most scrumptious chicken wings recipe ever!
Basically all you need is to season the chicken wings with a bit of oil, salt and pepper then toss it into an oven to bake. Voila, there you have it! Chicken wings to complement your meals especially during those busy days. I can imagine preparing these wings for party too! Just marinade it before hand and pop it into the oven an hour before the party.
I actually used this recipe from Jo Cooks and adapted it based on what I have in my kitchen. The recipe was so simple that to be honest, I was tempted to add a bit of soy sauce or even oyster sauce to the mix. In the end, I refrain myself because I wanted to know whether such simple ingredients will work. I am glad I did because in the end, the wings taste good and the skin, of so crispy!
Here’s the chicken wings straight out of the oven, looks yummy, no?
Tips for awesome oven baked chicken wings
Here’s some tips for the beginners or weekend cook amongst you to ensure that you get this right even from the first try:
- Chop the chicken wings at the joints instead of baking them whole or they won’t brown evenly. Alternatively you can straighten the wings with skewers.
- Line your baking sheet with baking paper or greased aluminum foil as you don’t want those crispy skin to get stuck on the tray.
- Estimating the baking time – which may vary from about 40 to 50 minutes depending on the thickness of your chicken wings, oven condition and how well-done you would like your chicken wings. Start with 40 minutes, test the wings by pulling apart the thickest section and return the wings into the oven if necessary.
As much as we love shrimp paste chicken wings, those need to be marinated in advance. On the other hand, these baked chicken wings don’t even need to be marinated before hand. It would be great if you can marinate them in advance, otherwise just go ahead and baked them. Even if you find them not as flavourful, just dip with some chili sauce or ketchup and you are good. We always eat is as it is though. You can sprinkle with a bit more salt and pepper if you prefer.
Now, on to the recipe in the next page. Enjoy!
